Was it Twitter – or a real-life relationship?

Tomio Geron recently published a post on his blog detailing the story of how T.A. McCann’s Tweet about good places to run in Denver resulted in funding for the recently announced round. While I can’t say how happy we are for T.A. and his team at Gist, I do feel that Tomio may have glossed over the real story here which is more about a handshake than a Tweet.

In the business of social media we see an enormous potential for it to transform people’s lives. But in the end, you have to get out there and go running with someone to really build a solid connection. Social media is there to support and facilitate real world interactions, not replace them.

In the end we’re all very excited for Gist and what it’s doing to help strengthen and build relationships—both on-line and off.
