In Jessica Hagy’s hands, a Venn diagram is a work of art. Hagy turns the humble chart and graph into tongue-in-cheek commentaries on modern life. Sketching on large index cards, Hagy captures the relationships between seemingly random topics to make her statement about issues ranging from politics to Hobo stew. Her skill lies in breaking down complex truths into graphical representations that give the viewer an incisive and humorous glimpse into a fact of life. That gray area where Fat and Skinny overlap? Size 2 with a Muffin Top. By turning life into fun mathematical visualizations, Hagy captures in pictures what most of us find hard to express in words.
